website of Gateshead Low Fell Junior Football Club.
An increasing shortage of football opportunities
within the Gateshead and Low Fell community was
the catalyst for setting up a brand new modern youth
football club in June 1999.
A group of dedicated and enthusiastic individuals
passionate about junior football identified the
need for an independent football facility within
the community, and set about providing a quality
club aimed at attracting, retaining and developing
the football skills of youth aged between 6 and
eighteen.
The formation of the club was made possible with
the generous financial and business support of our
official club sponsor NB Group Ltd; with matched
funding from Sportsmatch. (The Business Sponsorship
Incentive Scheme For Sport).
We now boast a playing membership in excess of 200
youths. We also have a nursery section, with players
as young as five and six are being groomed for competitive
football. All playing members benefit from quality
football coaching by FA qualified coaches.
Our mini-soccer section ranges from under 7 to under
10 and is represented in the Gateshead Apollo Doors
Youth League. Our eleven-a-side section consists
of teams aged from under 11 through to our oldest
under 16 team. All of these teams are represented
in various leagues across the North East. We also
have a growing girls section with teams at under
12 and 13 age groups.
Even though only five years old. Gateshead Low Fell
Junior Football Club is developing an enviable reputation
nationally as a caring family organisation.
One of the finest moments in youth football is witnessing
the progress of players as they develop throughout
their careers, none more so than when a player is
selected to represent a professional academy. It
is a pleasure to see some of our young stars of
the future having this opportunity. Our best wishes
are with all of our players currently attached to
professional academies.
The support that we receive from players and relatives
in unbelievable. We are often praised for our impeccable
support at games and tournaments. This is something
we pro-actively encourage and is true testament
that we really are a family club.
